What To Do If Your Dishwasher Has Stopping Working Properly

Blog

The dishwasher is not an absolute necessity in your kitchen, but it can surely be a major help in your daily routine. The dishwasher takes care of the dirty dishes for you and cleans and sanitizes them for you, saving you time and ensuring your dishes are getting clean. If your dishwasher is not running properly, this can add work to your day that you may not have the time for. If your dishwasher has stopped working, there may be things you can do to get it working again. Read on for helpful tips on how to get your dishwasher working as it should.

Clean Your Dishwasher Thoroughly

If your dishwasher isn't running correctly or cleaning your dishes properly, you may need to clean out your dishwasher. The dishwasher may have a clogged filter and it's simply washing your dishes with dirty water, leaving your dishes filthy. If the sprayer arms are clogged, they may not be able to clean your dishes or may not be able to rinse your dishes thoroughly. Clean the dishwasher using vinegar and baking soda. You can also run the dishwasher with vinegar in a glass container in the top rack of the dishwasher to clean it thoroughly as well. Removing the sprayer arms and soaking them in a mixture of baking soda and vinegar can remove hard water from the openings of the sprayer arms. Clean the filter out to remove any debris that is stuck inside to allow the water to drain properly.

Replace A Broken Dish Detergent Door

If the dish detergent door is not opening properly, the soap may not be able to get to your dishes in order to clean them properly. You can remove the dish detergent dispenser and replace it with a new one. You can find the proper replacement online or through your local appliance parts retailer. Remove the broken door and install the new one in its place.

Replace Sprayer Arms

If the sprayer arms are too badly damaged, or you aren't able to remove the hard water from the sprayer openings, you can replace them with new sprayer arms. Turn the water off to the dishwasher, then remove the sprayers from the base of the dishwasher, then install the new ones in place. Use all of the hardware that came with the new sprayer arms.

If your dishwasher is not running properly, there are things you can do to get it working properly again. If you aren't able to make the repairs yourself, hire a professional appliance repair technician to help you.
